Whether Lehi knows of Nephi’s revelation, he certainly knows Nephi’s heart and assigns Nephi this crucial task for that reason. Lehi gives him a father’s blessing: “Thou shalt be favored of the Lord, because thou hast not murmured.” Possibly Lehi’s dream showed him what would take place on this journey, so he uttered this promise, knowing how it would be fulfilled.
